| H: the powerhouse that drives the cable cars; its a brick building in the center of downtown and it constantly drives the cables of all the lines with about 9 mph through the town; the cars only grip and release that running cable as necessary. Funny enough the cable constantly makes a noise in its bed under the street, even if there is no cablecar near. Formerly these powerhouses were steam powered; now there are powered by the electromotors one sees above. A really astonishing construction - mechanical energy dispersion through a city! |
