...the most conspicuous bird in honolulu is one we met already a few 1000ks south: again, the common Myna, a bird from afghanistan and india. in newzealand its range starts on the northisland, just north of plymouth and from there on it is to be seen everywhere. but who would have thought (me not at least) that the range of that bird virtually reaches many more 1000kms to the north? it was introduced here as it was in nz and on both islands is very dominant and certainly in concurrency with some native birds. funny how the islands north and south of the equator are alike.
